DETAILS

Launch webinar: Global Citizens’ Assemblies: Pathways for the UN – Principles, Design, and Implementation

The Global Citizens’ Assemblies: Pathways for the UN – Principles, Design, and Implementation policy brief explores how Global Citizens’ Assemblies (GCAs) can be used to bring diverse, randomly selected citizens into deliberation on pressing global challenges—from climate change and AI to reforming global governance. Drawing on past experiences, including the 2021 Global Assembly, the paper outlines core design principles, implementation challenges, and pathways for adoption, particularly by the United Nations. GCAs are presented as a complementary tool to strengthen citizen participation and trust in multilateralism through inclusive, informed, and deliberative processes.
