  Paris, FR Seminar

DETAILS

16:00 - 17:30 CEST / Track 2: Climate, Sustainability and Direct Democracy

In June 2020, "la Convention Citoyenne pour le Climat", a French citizens' council on the climate crisis ended its work. Their goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in France by 40 percent by 2030. To do this they came up with 150 concrete legislative proposals. A referendum will be held on two constitutional amendments and one amendment to the law, while all other proposals will be voted on in Parliament.

The Convention consisted of 150 randomly selected citizens, representing the demographic diversity of French society. Nadine Breneur was one of the citizens drawn to participate in the Citizen's Convention for the Climate. She lives in the French-German-Swiss border triangle and will present her experience.
