Limitations to freedom of movement
  • Self isolation, quarantine, police hours. Expensive fines. Reevaluating every 30 days.
  • Curfew in place from 19:00 to 05:00, during the weekend the curfew starts at 16:00 on Friday and ends at 05:00 on Monday
18 May:
  • Foreigners staying in North Macedonia may remain until August 31
  • The government banned movement to various regions in the country
  • A nationwide curfew from 9 pm until 5 am was implemented

 

28 May:

  • Bars and restaurants with outdoor seating may reopen

4 June:

  • The protocol for preventive measures for all jobs were adopted

14 June:

  • Protocol unimpeded transit of foreign citizens through the territory of the Republic of Northern Macedonia was adopted

23 June:

  • From 26 June, all land border crossings will be re-opened, followed by airports on 1 July. Gyms and interiors of catering facilities may also re-open

30 June:

  • Sports matches may be held again without an audience
Limitations to electoral rights
  • Postponed early elections. Date for regular elections expected. No digital alternative at the moment.

22 March:

  • Parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12, have been terminated.

10 June:

  • Amendments to the decree on elections with obligation to the Ministry of Interior were made

 

Limitation to civil rights
  • Roma community face challenges due to the lack of digital connection.
Risks to data security
  • StopKorona! app is voluntary and data is stored for 14 days in the mobile phone
Limitations to freedom of information
  • No limitations regarding publications.
  • At the same time, the citizens require and the Government is obligated to introduce mechanisms that disable spreading of disinformation, fear and panic among the population.
Emergency powers for government
  • State of health emergency announced for 30 days and extended for another 30 days - No checks or balances officially.
  • On 15 May, the government extended the state of emergency for 14 days.
