I am the editor-in-chief of Capital & Main, a Los Angeles-based news website founded to cover inequality. For 20 years, I was a reporter at the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and a few other outlets. I also have been an aide to two Los Angeles politicians and held administrative posts at two universities: Cal State Los Angeles and Claremont McKenna College. I live in Los Angeles and Mexico City. I am a U.S. citizen and a legal permanent resident of México.
