European Citizens' Initiative Day 2025

European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) Day 2025 will take place as part of the Civil Society Week with a focus on the theme of Strengthening Cohesion and Participation in Polarised Societies.

Together with experts, policy-makers, journalists, and civil society across Europe including candidate countries, ECI Day will focus on:

• What policies are needed to enable capacity-building and funding for European civil society?
• What is the role of the European Citizens’ Initiative in tackling polarisation?
• How could support be strengthened for the ECI at different levels in the Member States?

Democracy International is one of the permanent partners of ECI Day, and will host a workshop "World Cafe Meet&Greet". Daniela Vancic, our Lead European Policy and Advocacy, will also be one of the panellists on the "High Level Session".
